1. First date is unofficial.
2. During the World Wars, Salvation Army work was proscribed, restricted, and/or entrusted to national officers. Changes in name, terminology, and/or organization were necessary in some areas. In most cases, contact with the international movement was restored after the end of the war. Work in Latvia, Estonia, and East Germany was not reestablished until the reopening of eastern Europe.
3. Proscribed by Communist government. Reestablished after reopening of eastern Europe. Salvation Army work in Yugoslavia/Serbia has not been not reestablished.
4. Salvation Army work in the People's Republic of China was entrusted to a committee of Chinese officers in 1951. Although there is no longer any organized work, contact has been made with individual Salvationists. Salvation Army work continues in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
